The Grant America Program (G.A.P) is a operated in accordance with HUD Handbook 4155.1 REV. 5.  FHA expressly insures loans in which a government entity provides a down payment gift to the borrower.  The Grant America Program was founded to assist homebuyers in realizing their dream of homeownership, by providing a gift to assist them with their down payment.

The principal difference between the traditional non-profit DPA programs and the Grant America Program is that G.A.P. is a recognized Governmental entity program and is not subject to IRS Ruling 2006-27.

The Grant America Program is available nationwide.  The funds provided to the homebuyer are a true GIFT. No lien is recorded against the home and there is no expectation of repayment.
